The Elks Lodge: Wausau, WI

07/05/2025

We again returned to the Elks Lodge for our 11th investigation of the building in hope of obtaining additional paranormal evidence. I was accompanied by investigators Beaudry, Brazier, Boller, Zuke, Christiansen and Kasper. We obtained permission from the lodge to investigate as it was their annual shutdown week, which means no one else would be onsite during our investigation. We arrived at the site at 4PM and began our investigation.

During past investigations the ballroom, third floor area and basement bar have been the paranormal hotspots. Often, we have obtained EVP’s from all areas as well as actual paranormal sightings in the ballroom areas. We opted once again to use investigator Kasper’s wireless DVR system for this investigation as we had limited time to investigate the site. Camera placement was as follows. Ballroom, ballroom main lobby, ballroom stage, Antler Room (rope light placed in doorway), dining area (where the old bar once was located), downstairs bar (facing the area where “Randi” use to sit), ballroom lobby and the 2nd floor lobby. A trap camera was placed facing “Charlie’s Heaven” on the 4th level of the lodge. A Go Pro IR camera was used by investigator Blaschka during our investigation, and several dozen photos were taken throughout the building. Investigator Brazier also took many photographs with a high-resolution camera. Rem Pods were placed in the basement bar by Randi’s chair and in the ballroom lobby area. Motion detectors were placed in the main staircase, basement bar and the ballroom. A vibration detector was placed in front of the door to Charlie’s Heaven. Unfortunately, the vibration unit was placed prior to the trap camera. The vibration unit alarmed during other camera placements to which I have no logical explanation. It never alarmed again during the evening.

During the investigation many orbs were detected via DVR. I think it’s probable that most of that activity can be explained as dust due to the air conditioning system operating throughout the building. Also, some of the orbs were the result of insect activity. Our analysis showed that none of the orbs were paranormal in nature.

Several EVP sessions were conducted during the evening in the basement bar, bowling alley, ballroom and ballroom lobby. During our session in the ballroom investigator Boller heard what sounded like “feedback” come from one of the stand-alone speakers. Upon inspection the speaker was found to be plugged in but turned off. I cannot explain reasonably what would have caused feedback from the speaker. It should also be noted that investigator Blaschka had just asked (prior to the feedback sound) if anyone was present to give us some sort of sign. This may have been coincidental, but the timing lends more credibility to it being paranormal in nature.

Prior to our meal break audio recorders were placed in the lower bar, 3rd floor dressing room, top of the main staircase on the 3rd floor, Antler Room, ballroom and Charlies Heaven. Reviews of those recordings provided nothing paranormal in nature.

An “estes” session was conducted in the ballroom with no paranormal results.

In conclusion, we found very little paranormal evidence during this visit. This is not unusual for the Elk’s lodge as we have experienced a very quiet atmosphere on some of our previous visits. We will continue to investigate the site in the future to try and collect more evidence.

In conclusion, we have collected lots of new evidence to support our ongoing case, that the Elks Lodge is truly haunted by several spirits. We will continue to investigate the site to search for answers and continue to collect evidence.
