Private Vacation Home In Hayward, Wisconsin

Synopsis

The client made contact with us through the TAPS website on September 11, 2018.  The property is a vacation home located in Sawyer County, Town of Bass Lake Wisconsin, just a few miles from the city of Hayward. The home sits on a land peninsula surrounded by two natural bodies of water, School House Lake and Durphee Lake. The home was originally moved to the site around 1996 and placed on a foundation. The prior owners both passed away within a year after they sold the property. The current clients purchased the property from them in 2000.

The area that the home is located on was mainly a lumbering area starting around the 1870’s. The community was settled by mainly Native Americans and German immigrants.

The clients have experienced what they believe to be paranormal activity at the site but the activity did not seem to start until about 9 months ago. They are interested in our group trying to capture any proof of paranormal activity as well as try and make the activity subside.

Paranormal Activity Reported

Activity occurring in the home includes:

·        A faucet turned itself on in the bathroom located off the dining room area.

·        Unexplainable scratching heard on the window screens.

·        Loud noises that are heard with no explanation as to their source.

·        Red and green lights that emanated from under the bed in the bedroom located off of the dining room. White circles appeared throughout the room with the bed shaking during the event.

·        Knocking sounds heard, sometimes on the windows. After one of these events the client peered outside and saw what appeared to be a man standing outside by the lamp pole.

·        Pet dog seems to react to something unseen.

·        A Native American friend of the client visited the home and commented that she feels it may be “little people” that are present.

·        This past November the client felt as if someone stepped over the bed while he was sleeping in the bedroom located off the living room.

Investigation

The client invited us to investigate the site overnight. We arrived on Saturday December 15, 2018 at approximately 4:30PM. Investigators Blaschka, Williams and Syring were present for the investigation. Upon arrival the client showed us around the property and explained to us the activity that has occurred at the site. The first event occurred when they first purchased the home when the water turned on full blast in the bathroom nearest the dining room. Nothing has occurred in the home up until about 9 months ago. The client has stated that nothing new has changed recently, no recent stressors in their lives and no new antique items have been brought into the property. So, it is unclear as to why this activity has so suddenly increased. I did ask the client if she knew if anyone has recently dabbled with any occult instruments or if any other paranormal investigators have visited the site. The client told us that nothing like this has happened at the site.

After the client gave us the tour she left the property and we began our investigation. We started by setting up two DVR cameras. One of the cameras was placed in bedroom #1 where the client's husband had felt something walk over the bed while he slept. Camera #2 was placed in bedroom #3, where the client's husband experienced the red and green glowing lights under the bed as the bed shook. We decided to set up command central in the dining room. Rem Pods and vibration detectors where placed in bedroom #1 and #2. A motion light was also placed in bedroom #1.

Investigator Blaschka drew a basic map of the home’s layout and Investigators Williams and Syring took temperature and EMF readings throughout the property. Temperature readings in the home ranged from 64.5F to 71.0F. EMF readings ranged from 0.0 mg to 100 + mg, all of which were static in nature. During the evening the Rem Pod in Bedroom #1 alarmed once of its own accord with no reasonable explanation. The Rem Pod also had its battery drained at one point during the evening which required the battery to be replaced. What drained the energy from the battery neither is known nor can be explained reasonably?

Three separate EVP session where conducted. The first session was conducted without questioning. We placed a recorder in bedroom #1 and #2 while we left the property for roughly one hour. Upon review of those recordings only one anomalous noise was heard that sounded like one single tap on the window in bedroom #1. It is unknown if it was paranormal in nature as heat changes could have caused the noise. The second session was conducted in the living room. During that session we asked if the prior owner, Don was present and if he could make a noise to let us know. Almost on cue one loud knock can be heard. The third session was completed in bedroom #1 with no result.

Several hours of DVR footage was recorded and reviewed by investigator Syring after the investigation concluded. Nothing paranormal was detected on the footage. Also, several photographs were taken throughout the cabin but nothing paranormal was detected on any of them.

During the balance of the evening into the early morning hours we did not experience anything out of the ordinary. We concluded the investigation at approximately 7AM.

Conclusion and Recommendations

In closing, we did not capture much in the way of unexplainable activity while at the property. It can be noted that we captured what may be one EVP response and one suspect knock noise. Also the draining of our battery in the Rem Pod located in bedroom #1 was odd and can’t be explained at this time. Further study of the site would be needed to come to a more certain conclusion. But based on our results collected on this investigation I would conclude that we did not capture enough evidence to determine that the site is haunted.
