The Historic William Devoe House - Wausau, Wisconsin

Investigation

The WPRS investigated the Historical Devoe House on Saturday, May 16th, 2020. Investigators Beaudry, Blaschka, Duginski & von Gnechten were present. Equipment used during the investigation included Digital DVR cameras, EMF meters, Rem Pods, motion and vibration detectors, Thermal imager and digital recorders.

The main focus of the investigation was conducted in the upper suite of the building due to all the previous investigations, collection of evidence and personal experiences. The WPRS mobile command trailer was used as command headquarters and three DVR cameras were placed in the building. Two cameras were placed in the upper suite and the third was placed in the lower. Motion and vibration detectors were placed in the upper suite. One of each, on the staircase and the other vibration detector was placed on the floor in front of the fireplace. Another motion detector was aimed into the upper suite area.

After all the DVR cameras and equipment were in place, the team monitored activity from inside the trailer. During one point of the evening, the motion detector that was placed on the floor near the fireplace went into alarm. Investigators Beaudry and von Gnechten went in to investigate the activity. As soon as the investigators opened the door, the digital audio recorder that was placed in that area captured a male voice saying, “uh-oh”. This same vibration detector went into alarm on another occasion shortly after the two investigators left.

During the course of the investigation, the DVR cameras picked up a few odd light anomalies. On three separate occasions in the upper suite possible orb activity was captured. On one occasion, a glowing orb was spotted moving by the fireplace. Another occasion, a large orb was spotted near the mirror above the fireplace and another seemed to be a pulsing orb near the refrigerator.

During the investigation, the team broke out into groups to conduct EVP sessions in different areas of the building. During our last EVP session in the upper suite the entire team fanned out around

the room. During that session, we tried to reach out to William Devoe, whom we believe is the spirit that is still lingering there. The team tried to interact with William and explained to him that the building is being sold in hopes that it would guide him to move on. During that session, the team captured a few different EVP’s. One of the recordings sounded like one or more people whispering. Two other EVP recordings captured a male voice saying, “yeah” and “okay”. The last recording the team captured was a male saying, “don’t know what you’re doing”.

Conclusion

Throughout the past several years, the WPRS has had the pleasure to investigate the Devoe house. The team has captured and experienced some truly unbelievable and unexplainable evidence in the field of paranormal research. The Devoe house became one of the team’s favorite places to investigate. Not just because of the historical aspect but the on-going mystery of why the spirit of William Devoe was still haunting his former residence 101 years after his death? Hopefully with this very last investigation at the location, the team helped William to move on and finally find some peace.
