Local Business - Wausau, Wisconsin

SYNOPSIS

In the 1880’s, a planning mill was constructed near this location along the river. The mill’s log storage area would be the exact site of the modern day building. The planning mill operated until 1912, when two brothers purchased the business and turned it into a Shook box factory. The new business constructed wooden box crates for storage and shipping. In 1927 another man purchased the box factory and in 1933 a new business was started, where it operated until 1982. In 1983 the building was torn down. The current building was erected in 2007.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY REPORTED

After the new building was constructed, staff and clients reported strange possible paranormal activity through the years. Reports of hearing phantom footsteps, doors opening and closing on their own, unexplainable voices and kitchen pans flying off tables on their own accord.

INVESTIGATION

The WPRS investigated on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 from approximately 6:30pm until 12:30 am. Investigators Beaudry, Blaschka, Sczygelski, von Gnechten and Syring were present. The client also was present and helped assist during the investigation.

Equipment used during the investigation included our DVR camera system, infrared and full spectrum cameras, Tri Field, K2, rem pod (EMF) electro magnetic meters, motion and vibration detectors, digital recorders, Kinect 3D image monitor and SB7 spirit box.

The investigation began with the client giving us a tour of the facility and explaining the different areas of the location where paranormal activity had been encountered. After the tour, DVR cameras were placed around the location. Camera #1 was placed in the basement facing northwest. Camera #2 was placed in the basement facing southwest. Camera #3 was placed in a main level room facing east and Camera #4 was placed in the kitchen. A separate infrared camera was placed in another main level room facing north.

EMF readings were conducted with a Tri field meter around the location. No anomalous or unusual EMF readings were recorded during the investigation, other than one occurrence where a sudden unexplainable spike in the electro magnetic field went from 0 – 1.5 milligauss.

At 9:05 pm, Camera #3 captured a strange orb moving very fast from left to right across the room on an upward flight angle. This same camera captured what appeared to be an orb again at times listed below.

9:09 32 second

9:09 43 second

9:39 20 second

11:04 & 11:11

At 9:48 the Rem Pod that was placed on the table in the kitchen alerted with a higher fluctuation in the surrounding field of energy (EMF) and at 10:19PM the vibration detector that was placed near Camera #3 alarmed.

A lighted motion detector was placed in the east corner near camera #3. Twice during the evening the light detected some sort of unexplainable movement and went off.

Several EVP sessions were conducted around the location of camera #3, basement and kitchen areas. Investigators also set up the Kinect 3D system near the camera #3 location and used it during a few sessions.

EVIDENCE

Personal experiences in the field of paranormal research cannot be ruled as evidence. Investigators did experience a few unexplainable events during the investigation. Investigator Beaudry thought he heard what sounded like a shoe squeak on the floor near the opposite side of the room where camera #3 was located, while no one else was present. Investigator Syring thought he heard his name called out in the basement while collecting equipment, but no other team member was present.

The DVR footage of the orbs were quite interesting. The fast movement of the orbs and strange flight pattern were not typical of dust particles nor were they insects due to the time of year. Dust particles were not captured on any of the DVR, infrared or full spectrum cameras.

The vibration and motion detectors alerted again near the camera #3 location. High EMF spikes were detected near camera #3 and kitchen area with the Tri field and Rem Pod meters.

All digital recordings from the EVP sessions were analyzed. We found no evidence of electronic voice phenomena and all pictures from the infrared and full spectrum cameras showed nothing unusual.

CONCLUSION

The location has a history dating back into the 1880s where it was used by numerous businesses and prior settlements along the river. Taking into consideration the reported activity from staff though the years, personal experiences that occurred during the investigation and the orb footage on the infrared DVR camera, the WPRS cannot confirm that the location is truly haunted. It is very possible that what is occurring is paranormal in nature, but further investigation and evidence will have to be collected and analyzed to make that determination.
